This version currently has two layouts built into it, and it defaults to the left handed layout upon startup.  In this mode the bottom right pad is set to the bottom layer of Resolume (layer 1) and the top right pad is set to the topmost layer of Resolume (layer 6), the right handed page flips these.  There are the eight composition dials centre screen (already mapped to the included Resolume composition file) as well as a bank of controls for composition strobing (black & white) and locking the strobe on.  Each pad sets the opacity of the hit layer (using Y position velocity) and will remain live for as long as held.  If you want to lock off a layer simply use the vertical slider to set your opacity (this allows a more traditional composition VJ approach), simply hit the same pad again to reset to zero.

The four strobe buttons are already mapped to the included Resolume comp file as well, and the effects are already included in the layout.  To turn off a locked strobe effect simply hit the momentary strobe button (it’ll make sense when you try).

The content tab (center) is a quick and dirty way to change your content on the fly.  Layer selection and killing, column selection, deck choice and scale to fit all reside here.

As I said, there are a number of missing options at the moment.  I’m still unhappy with the positioning of clip speed adjustment, so I removed it in this version.  BPM tap and the facility to set loops between timeline / BPM is on the cards as is A/B setting and a crossfader.

Ultimately it’s an open template and if anyone uses this & makes modifications then please let me know.

Simply put the “contextualOscShortcuts.xml” file into your own Resolume preferences folder (make sure to backup your own settings first though) and then load the TouchOSC file into the editor and sync with your iPad.  Setup Resolume for OSC control, join the same network and away you go.

It may have been all quiet on the website front since an incredibly hectic New Years Eve, however that does not mean we at Blend have not been as busy as a busy thing.  Top of this is the great news that Liam from Blend was chosen as the overall winner for the first Resolume Content Generation contest.

The brief was a simple one from the guys at Resolume HQ.  Create a shedload of content using their amazing software without using any imported video / quartz / flash.  So, with only the preset video sources and some clever use of the in built video effects, Liam came up with a superb selection of original content.

The compo was a tight one however, and the main thing here (aside for Liam’s win) was learning how many different combinations of effect could be used to create awesome footage.

Props have to go to all the other great visual artists who took their time to create their own entries.  I’ve (Tony) managed to download each and every one of the attached files and personally am on a major drive to learn this piece of software inside out!

Sliders 1 to 3 == Layer 1 to 3 transparency.
Sliders 4 to 6 == Layer 1 to 3 clip speed.
Sliders 7 to 8 == n/a (set to fx ~ your choice).
Slider MASTER == Layer

Track Control pots 1 to 8 == Composition fx.

Track 1 to 3 == Layer select 1 to 3.

The three scene launch buttons correspond to the selected layer and are in use as a inelegant workaround.
